Troubled Las Vegas apartment complex owners initiate eviction process

Troubled Las Vegas Apartment Complex Owners Send 30-Day Notices to Tenants

The owners of the troubled Apex apartments in Las Vegas have sent tenants 30-day pay or quit notices after reaching a settlement with Clark County. County commissioners approved the settlement with California-based Pro-Residential Services, allowing the owners to attempt to evict non-paying tenants and make necessary repairs to the property.

The county had filed a lawsuit against the owners in 2022, alleging unsafe housing conditions and excessive crime at the complex. The owners had collected nearly $330,000 in COVID rental relief money while operating without a license. Tenants like Travis Smith and Selena Betancure have not paid rent in months due to the poor conditions of the property.

Despite the settlement, several tenants have filed a motion to stay to stop the eviction process. The 8 News Now Investigators have tried reaching the property owners for comment but have not received a response. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
