On Thursday, May 30, the Houston Asian American Pacific Islander Film Festival kicks off its 20th anniversary with a special opening night event featuring a screening of Love in Taipei and a meet-and-greet with author Abigail Hing Wen. Jazz Houston presents The Joe Sample Celebration, featuring guest artist Stix Hooper, and Downtown Houston+ presents Movies Under the Stars: Moana.

Friday, May 31, brings the sixth annual Houston Tattoo Arts Festival, featuring top tattoo artists from around the world. Children At Risk presents Stand Up for Children, with comedian Dana Carvey headlining the event. Asia Society Texas hosts a conversation with Kevin Kwan, author of the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy, and the Dave Matthews Band will be in concert.

Saturday, June 1, offers the Water Lantern Festival, a beautiful floating lantern event focused on connections and hope.
