Ambrose Castellano Running for Reelection in House District 70
Rep. Ambrose Castellano, a Democrat representing House District 70, has announced his candidacy for reelection, citing his commitment to upholding the values of faith, family, and unity in the community. Castellano, who has served in the role for the past four years, highlighted his achievements in securing funding for critical public health and safety initiatives, such as the Northeast Regional Crisis and Treatment Center and overtime pay for nurses at the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute.
In addition to his accomplishments, Castellano outlined his priorities for the future, including economic development, access to comprehensive healthcare, education, and social services. He expressed concerns about the impact of the Paid Family and Medical Leave Act on constituents’ financial wellbeing but pledged to work with the bill’s sponsor to ensure it supports those it aims to help without imposing undue financial burden.
Castellano emphasized the importance of enhancing economic opportunities, expanding healthcare facilities, improving education, and strengthening social services in the region. He also highlighted the community’s strengths, such as community partnerships, youth programs, and cultural preservation efforts.
Before his tenure as a state representative, Castellano served as president of the Board of Trustees at Luna Community College and on the school board for West Las Vegas School District. He was raised in Bernal and is engaged to Renee Roybal, with whom he has children and grandchildren. Castellano is a graduate of West Las Vegas High School and owns a construction company, AMG.
As the primary election approaches on June 4, Castellano’s campaign focuses on continuing to serve the people of District 70 and address the challenges and opportunities facing the community.
