Actor Austin North from ‘Outer Banks’ Arrested for Alleged Assault on Las Vegas Hospital Staff

Austin North Speaks Out After Arrest for Alleged Attack on Hospital Employees

Actor Austin North has spoken out after his recent arrest for an alleged attack on hospital employees in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 27-year-old Outer Banks star was taken into custody after allegedly assaulting several staffers in the emergency room at the University Medical Center hospital.

According to a police report obtained by TMZ, North allegedly punched a nurse in the head, shoved another in the face, and pushed a phlebotomist into a table. The phlebotomist reportedly used a nearby tray to defend themselves by hitting North in the head. Hospital security eventually restrained North and handcuffed him to a gurney, but not before he allegedly attacked another victim.

In a statement on his Instagram Story, North expressed deep regret over the incident, attributing it to a severe anxiety attack. He mentioned having very little memory of the events at the hospital and emphasized his respect for healthcare workers. North hopes to raise awareness about anxiety disorders and provide hope to others who may be struggling.

Prior to the alleged incident, North had been in Las Vegas for the Super Bowl, documenting his experiences on social media. The actor is best known for his role as Topper in Netflix’s Outer Banks and has previously appeared in Disney Channel shows like Kickin’ It and I Didn’t Do It.

North was arrested for gross misdemeanor battery and later released on bail. The Las Vegas Police Department has been contacted for confirmation of the incident. Stay updated on this developing story by signing up for PEOPLE’s free daily newsletter.
