911 Outage Across US States, Services Restored in Las Vegas While Remaining Down for Others

911 Outage Reported Across Several US States, Services Restored in Las Vegas

Several people across the Las Vegas valley reported a 911 outage on Wednesday evening, April 17. The outage was not limited to Las Vegas, as several other states in the US, including South Dakota, Nevada, and parts of Nebraska, also reported similar issues, according to officials.

Hours after the major problem, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that the service has been restored. In a statement, they said, “@lvmpd_dispatch 9-1-1 phone service has been restored. All of the individuals who called during the outage have been called back and provided assistance. Non-emergency calls are also working. As always, please do not call 9-1-1 unless you have an emergency.”

In South Dakota, the Department of Public Safety is working to restore the services. They mentioned that texting to 9-1-1 is operating in most locations and advised citizens to reach out to their local police and county sheriff offices using the non-emergency line if needed. Efforts are underway to resolve the issue, and people are urged not to call 9-1-1 as a test.

The situation is still developing, and updates are being provided by local agencies through social media accounts. It is essential to stay informed and follow the guidelines provided by authorities during this time of service interruption.
