A’s are facing a tight deadline to secure agreements and financing for the Las Vegas stadium opening

Oakland Athletics Racing Against Time to Secure Financing for New Las Vegas Stadium

The Oakland Athletics are gearing up for a major move to Las Vegas, with plans to open a new $1.5 million, 33,000-seat stadium in time for the 2028 season. This comes as the team plays its final season in Oakland and prepares to spend the next few years in a Triple-A stadium in West Sacramento, California.

Despite some skepticism and concerns about financing, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is confident that the A’s will meet their deadlines and begin construction on the new stadium by March 1. Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred has also expressed optimism that construction will start by April, with the goal of completing the project in a similar timeframe to Allegiant Stadium, home to the Las Vegas Raiders.

While there are still key documents to be approved by the Las Vegas Stadium Authority Board, including a non-relocation agreement and a development agreement, officials remain optimistic that the necessary financing will be secured. A’s owner John Fisher has the ability to fund the stadium on his own, but the team has also hired consultants to help find additional investors.

Despite some legal challenges and concerns raised by public interest groups, the A’s and Las Vegas officials are confident that the stadium will be completed on schedule. With just over 10 months to go until the planned opening, all parties involved are focused on making sure everything is in place for the A’s to play in their new home in 2028.

In the meantime, the A’s are also making upgrades to their temporary home in Sacramento, including building a separate clubhouse and renovating the visiting one. With a lot of work ahead, both in Sacramento and Las Vegas, the A’s are determined to make their move a success and provide fans with a state-of-the-art stadium to enjoy America’s pastime.
