Arizona man arrested in Las Vegas after allegedly striking woman with vehicle in fast-food parking lot

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A shocking incident unfolded in a Las Vegas fast-food parking lot, leading to the arrest of an Arizona man on attempted murder charges. Richard O’Neal, 43, stands accused of striking a woman with his vehicle not once, but twice, in a disturbing act of violence.

The incident took place on April 20 in the 3300 block of Tropicana Avenue near Pecos Road. Witnesses reported seeing a grey Honda Odyssey hit the woman after she exited the vehicle, with the driver then backing up and striking her again. The woman sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to a police report, the woman had previously been arrested for soliciting prostitution, prompting Las Vegas Metro Vice Detectives to conduct a follow-up interview with her. She recounted getting into the man’s vehicle after he offered her a ride, only to be met with unwanted advances before being struck by the vehicle.

Surveillance footage from a nearby business captured the horrifying incident, showing the van accelerating and driving over the woman not once, but twice. The vehicle then fled the scene, leaving the injured woman behind.

On May 11, police located and arrested O’Neal at a Las Vegas Strip resort. He now faces multiple felony charges, including attempted murder and battery with a deadly weapon. O’Neal is set to appear in court on Tuesday, May 14, as the investigation into this disturbing case continues.
