WNBA Star A’ja Wilson Lands Signature Shoe Deal with Nike
WNBA star A’ja Wilson has just announced a major milestone in her career – she will be getting her own signature shoe with Nike. The two-time league MVP shared the exciting news ahead of the Las Vegas Aces’ preseason game against the Puerto Rico national team.
“It’s been incredible working with Nike toward a dream of having my collection, and it really is an honor to take this next step and become a Nike signature athlete,” Wilson said in a statement. “From my logo to the look of the shoe and the pieces throughout the collection, we’ve worked to make sure every detail is perfectly tuned to my game and style.”
According to USA Today, Wilson’s signature shoe is set to hit the market in 2025. This announcement comes as no surprise, considering Wilson’s impressive resume in the WNBA. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft, Wilson has already achieved remarkable success in her six-year career.
She is a two-time WNBA champion, two-time league MVP, two-time WNBA Defensive Player of the Year, and a five-time league All-Star. Wilson also boasts a NCAA championship from her time at South Carolina, where she was named the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player in 2017.
Nike also released a statement celebrating their partnership with Wilson, highlighting her numerous accolades and achievements both on and off the court. With career averages of 19.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.8 blocks per game, Wilson continues to be a dominant force in the league.
Wilson’s signature shoe deal follows Nike’s reported $28 million agreement with Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Clark will also be receiving her own signature shoe, solidifying Nike’s commitment to supporting and empowering female athletes in the basketball world.
