AMVETS One Tour Makes Stop in Las Vegas to Raise Awareness of Veteran Suicide

AMVETS One Tour Raises Awareness for Veteran Mental Health and Suicide Prevention in Las Vegas

AMVETS One, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about veteran mental health and suicide prevention, made a stop in the Las Vegas valley as part of their nationwide tour. The organization, led by Marine Corps veteran Jeff Lukens, is on a mission to ensure that no veteran is left behind when it comes to mental health support.

During their visit to U.S. Vets in Las Vegas, Lukens emphasized the importance of recognizing the signs of suicide ideation among veterans. He highlighted the need for community connection and support, urging veterans to not be afraid to ask for help when needed.

AMVETS One is collaborating with local organizations such as Operation Battle Cry and Merging Vets and Players to empower veterans and save lives. Navy veteran Lisa Roybal, a committee co-chairperson for AMVETS One, stressed the importance of having open conversations about mental health to help those who may be struggling.

The event also promoted the use of the 988 hotline for anyone in a mental health crisis, emphasizing the importance of reaching out for immediate assistance. Lukens shared his own experience of seeking help and encouraged others to lean on their support systems during difficult times.

The AMVETS One tour will continue to other states such as Utah, Idaho, and Arizona, spreading their message of hope and support for veterans across the country. This initiative serves as a reminder that it’s okay to not be okay and that help is always available for those in need.
