Cal Women’s Golf Set to Compete in Las Vegas NCAA Regional – Seeking 9th Top-5 Finish
Cal Women’s Golf Team Aims for 9th Top-5 Finish in Program History at NCAA Regional
LAS VEGAS – The No. 28 California women’s golf team is gearing up for the Las Vegas NCAA Regional, where they will be vying for their 9th top-5 finish in program history. After an impressive regular season with five top-five finishes, the Golden Bears are ready to take on the competition at the Spanish Trail Country Club from May 6-8.
This season has been one of the best in recent memory for Cal, with standout performances and record-breaking achievements. Led by head coach Nancy McDaniel, who recently announced her retirement after 29 seasons with the team, the Bears have shown resilience and determination on the course.
The team’s lineup features top performers such as Adora Liu, Constance Fouillet, Olivia Lee, Rina Tatematsu, and Cristina Ochoa, who have consistently delivered strong performances throughout the season. With Liu leading the team with a scoring average of 72.5 and Fouillet setting a program record for freshman scoring at 72.6, the Bears are well-equipped to take on the competition at the regional tournament.
Cal’s success this season has been marked by their ability to finish in the top five in five of their last nine tournaments, including a historic run of three consecutive wins earlier in the year. The team’s strong showing at the Pac-12 Championship, where they finished in ninth place, has set the stage for a competitive performance at the NCAA Regional.
The top five teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to compete at the NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad on May 17-22. With a history of top-five finishes at NCAA Regionals, the Bears are poised to make a strong showing at the upcoming tournament in Las Vegas.
As the team prepares to bid farewell to Coach McDaniel, they are focused on finishing the season on a high note and making their mark at the NCAA Regional. Follow the Bears on Twitter and Instagram (@CalWGolf) for updates on their journey to the championship.
