Wind forces cancellation of outdoor activities throughout Las Vegas Valley

High Winds Cause Cancellations and Delays for Events in Las Vegas Valley

High winds wreaked havoc on events across the Las Vegas valley over the weekend, causing cancellations and disappointments for attendees. The highly anticipated Lovers & Friends music festival was abruptly canceled just hours before showtime, leaving fans like Kelsie Carlos scrambling to adjust their plans.

Carlos, who had traveled from Seattle for the festival, expressed her disappointment at the last-minute cancellation, which cost her and her boyfriend over $1,000 each in expenses. Despite the setback, she remained optimistic and vowed to make the most of their time in Las Vegas before heading back home.

In addition to the music festival, The L’Etape Las Vegas by Tour De France was also called off due to the unsafe conditions caused by the high winds. Organizers expressed their disappointment but acknowledged that the weather was beyond their control. Cyclists who had traveled from various states and countries for the event were left without immediate refunds, with their entry fees deferred to the next scheduled event.

Clark County officials issued a dust advisory for the weekend, warning residents and visitors about the potentially hazardous conditions. While the winds were expected to subside by Monday, the impact on the weekend’s events was already felt. Despite the setbacks, attendees like Carlos remained hopeful for a return to Las Vegas in the future, with plans to potentially attend the rescheduled events in 2025.
