Imposter Restaurants on Uber Eats Cause Confusion and Concern in Las Vegas
Las Vegas is well-known for its amazing culinary scene. However, it is facing a new challenge as several well-known restaurants are being impersonated on popular food delivery platforms like Uber Eats and Grubhub.
The latest victim of this trend is Esther’s Kitchen, a highly acclaimed Italian restaurant in downtown Vegas.
Esther’s Kitchen, known for its pasta dishes and stylish ambiance, has been targeted by an imposter on Uber Eats. The delivery platform hosts a page for something called Esther’s Italian Pasta Kitchen, which claims to be located in Henderson, miles away from the actual Esther’s Kitchen location.
In a bold move, James Trees, the chef-owner of Esther’s Kitchen and a James Beard Award finalist, took to Facebook to call out Uber Eats for allowing businesses to be impersonated on their platform.
Trees expressed his frustration at the situation, questioning how such impersonation could damage the reputation of the business he built from the ground up.
This issue extends beyond Esther’s Kitchen, as other renowned Vegas restaurants like Gaetano’s Ristorante and ShangHai Taste have also fallen victim to impersonation on food delivery apps. The confusion caused by these imposter pages could potentially harm the reputation and brand of these establishments.
Local pizzerias like Manizza’s Pizza have also been affected, with an imposter using their name on Uber Eats to offer dishes that the authentic Manizza’s does not serve. The owner, Christina Martin, has offered to replace any orders made through the fake page to ensure customers get the real deal.
This developing story highlights the importance of verifying the authenticity of restaurant pages on delivery platforms to prevent confusion and protect the reputation of established eateries.
