Possible Measles Exposure on Las Vegas Strip as Visitor Diagnosed with Virus

Measles Exposure on Las Vegas Strip: Health District Warns Visitors

An out-of-state visitor has been diagnosed with measles, potentially exposing others on the Las Vegas Strip, according to the Southern Nevada Health District.

The individual traveled to Clark County from out of state and visited several locations in the valley between April 1 and April 6. The Health District is currently informing individuals who may have been exposed at specific locations during that time frame, including the MGM Grand, International Smoke Restaurant, and Cirque du Soleil’s Ka.

In addition to the known locations, the district stated that the individual also visited various locations throughout Las Vegas and Henderson. The measles virus can remain in the air for up to two hours after an infected person leaves the area.

Symptoms of measles include fever, cough, runny nose, and red eyes, followed by a distinctive rash. The virus can spread before and after the rash appears, making it highly contagious.

Anyone who may have been exposed is advised to contact their healthcare provider if they develop symptoms within 21 days of visiting the locations. It is also recommended to review immunization status and contact healthcare providers if not fully immunized against measles.

The Health District is working to contain the potential spread of measles in the area and is urging the public to take necessary precautions to protect themselves and others. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
