Exclusive Las Vegas Strip walking distance guide

Make getting around Vegas easier on your feet

How far apart are hotels on the Las Vegas Strip? Our handy, exclusive guide below will show you.

If you’re considering taking a walk while in Vegas to get to dinner or show, you might be surprised at how long it takes. The Strip itself is only 4.2 miles long, but the unique architecture really crams a lot into relatively small amount of space.

To help illustrate this, the team at VegasNewsWire built the attached chart, which shows the distance between resorts – but we’ll add a few caveats (click to enlarge).

What the distances between hotels on the Strip really mean

As you review the distances between the resorts, you’ll easily see, for example, a .7 mile difference between Caesars Palace and Paris Las Vegas. While that walk seems manageable, consider these important factors:

  • The casinos are enormous. Just getting from your room to the door – even finding the door that will lead you to the strip – can be a challenge. You’ll definitely get your daily step count up!
  • The walk isn’t always a straight line. To prevent pedestrians from walking through traffic – or sometimes, pedestrians falling into traffic – barriers keep you on the sidewalk, and an extensive series of escalators, stairs, and bridges help you get across the street. Sometimes they will even detour you through casinos!
  • Weather can play a big factor. Yes, Vegas is a “dry heat,” but when it’s hot, it can be really hot. Be careful, bring water, and prepare for it. You’ll be outside for a while.
  • It can be crowded. On your walk, you’ll see all kinds of interesting people, sometimes even showgirls in full regalia. That slows things down, too. Be very careful and alert when walking the Las Vegas Strip at night.

You have other options for getting around Vegas

However, walking is just one way to get around. If you’re pressed for time or would prefer an easier mode of transportation, Las Vegas happens to be one of the few cities in the United States with a monorail. The entire system tends to be clean, and very fast.

The monorail has 7 stations – they are:

  • MGM Grand
  • Horseshoe/Paris Las Vegas
  • Flamingo/Caesars Palace
  • Harrah’s/The LINQ
  • Las Vegas Convention Center
  • Westgate Las Vegas
  • SAHARA Las Vegas

Also, taxis are pretty easy to catch at hotel entrances. You can’t catch a cab on the Strip itself any more – to help with traffic flow, they’ve taken that away. Nowadays you can get one in front of any hotel, there will be dedicated places for picking up and dropping off people.

Likewise, Uber and Lyft operate in Las Vegas, and should follow predetermined rates, so unless there’s unusually high demand, you will find your rideshare of choice, affordably.

Summary: have a plan when walking around Vegas

In conclusion, if you’re considering a walk down the Las Vegas Strip, and you’re in a hurry, you might want to plan ahead. Otherwise, be prepared, and enjoy the air outside the casino!
