Closing the Distance: Proposed Route to Ease Travel Between Laughlin and Bullhead City

New Bridge Connecting Laughlin and Bullhead City Set to Open June 7, 2024

New Bridge Connecting Laughlin and Bullhead City Set to Open in June

Residents of Laughlin, Nevada, and Bullhead City, Arizona, are eagerly anticipating the opening of a new bridge that will significantly reduce commute times between the two cities. The bridge, named the Silver Copper Crossing, is set to open on June 7, 2024, after years of planning and construction.

The new bridge, spanning the Colorado River, will provide a much-needed alternative to the existing Veterans Memorial Bridge at Avi Resort, which often experiences heavy traffic congestion. With one lane of traffic in each direction and a multiuse trail for pedestrians and cyclists, the Silver Copper Crossing is expected to streamline travel for the 43,000 residents of Bullhead City and the 8,000 residents of Laughlin.

The $60 million project, funded by a combination of federal, state, and local contributions, has been in the works since the 1990s. The completion of the bridge is seen as a historic milestone that will not only improve traffic flow but also promote economic development in the area.

Officials from both states believe that the new bridge will alleviate congestion on the existing Bullhead Parkway and U.S. Route 95 bridge, as well as provide easier access to essential services for residents of both cities. The bridge is also expected to spur growth in the region, attracting new businesses and residents to the area.

For residents like Ronald Tschanz, who currently faces a 30-minute commute to work, the opening of the new bridge can’t come soon enough. “It’s gonna help out a lot of people,” Tschanz said.

With the Silver Copper Crossing set to open in just a few weeks, residents of Laughlin and Bullhead City are looking forward to a smoother and more efficient commute between the two cities.
