Plan for Delays and Lane Closures on Las Vegas Boulevard: Channel 13 Traffic Survival Guide
LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Navigating the Las Vegas Strip this week may require some extra patience and planning as construction projects continue to impact traffic flow.
As part of the Channel 13 Traffic Survival Guide, drivers are being advised to prepare for delays and lane closures on Las Vegas Boulevard. The ongoing construction is part of a larger multi-year Clark County project aimed at improving the roadway.
Las Vegas native Bradley Felder, who frequently works on the Strip, shared his frustrations with the current construction, describing the traffic as “hectic” and “nerve-racking.” Felder admitted to avoiding the area altogether by taking side streets to avoid getting stuck in the congestion.
Currently, only one lane is open on Las Vegas Boulevard from Park Avenue to Tropicana Avenue until Tuesday at 5 p.m. The closure, which began Sunday night, is in place 24 hours a day to allow crews to break-up and repave the road. Most of the construction is scheduled between midnight and 9 a.m.
Despite the inconvenience, Felder acknowledged the necessity of the construction, noting the poor condition of many roads in the area. He expressed hope that the improvements would benefit the county in the long run.
In addition to the ongoing work on Las Vegas Boulevard, Formula 1 has its own separate project impacting the resort corridor through Wednesday. County crews are also conducting waterline, communication, and electrical work from 12 a.m. to 9 a.m. daily, resulting in lane closures on northbound Las Vegas Boulevard from Tropicana Avenue to Aria.
The lane closures are expected to last through May 31 as part of the Clark County Las Vegas Boulevard Roadway Improvement Project, which began in 2019 and is slated to continue through 2026. The project aims to enhance the Strip’s infrastructure and overall traffic flow for residents and visitors alike.
