Frustration Grows as Pipeline Maintenance Causes Traffic Woes in North Las Vegas
Drivers in North Las Vegas are feeling the frustration as pipeline maintenance work continues to cause headaches in the area of North 5th Street and Centennial Parkway. The construction is necessary to accommodate the growth and development of the area, but for many residents, it is causing major delays in their daily commute.
The pipeline maintenance is being done to lower the pipeline and make way for future developments in the area. Kern River Gas Transmission, the company responsible for the pipeline, is coordinating with Southwest Gas to ensure there is no impact on gas service for residents.
Despite the inconvenience, city officials and the gas company are assuring residents that the construction is necessary for future improvements and expansion in the area. However, for drivers like Joseph Roe and Omari Nunez, the delays and lane closures are making their daily commute a nightmare.
Roe, who travels to work in Summerlin, has had to add extra time to his commute to account for the construction. Nunez, on the other hand, is frustrated with the constant delays at traffic lights in the area.
While the construction may be a sign of progress and growth for North Las Vegas, residents like Nunez are hoping that future development will come at a slower pace to minimize the disruptions to their daily lives. The southbound side of North 5th Street is expected to remain closed through the end of April, with construction wrapping up by the end of May.
